IW
Power's partner, Wind Prospect, is experienced at the
development of offshore wind farms with the successful
development of a site in the UK and the ongoing feasibility
of an offshore project in Hong Kong waters. With this
background, IW Power is well placed to play a leading role
in the identification and development of offshore wind farms
in China too.
UK
Building on extensive experience
gained onshore, Wind Prospect established SeaScape Energy in
2000 to undertake offshore wind energy developments in the UK .
Currently, SeaScape Energy is developing a 90 MW offshore wind
farm on Burbo Bank in Liverpool Bay, UK which in late 2005
awarded a turbine contract. The project will supply green
electricity for 78,500 homes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions
by a quarter of a million tonnes per year.
Hong Kong
Wind Prospect is undertaking a
feasibility assessment of an offshore wind farm in Hong Kong
waters, on behalf of CLP. Initial phases of the feasibility
study involve the investigation of offshore wind resource
analysis and the identification of development constraints such
as water depth, height restrictions, marine and fishing routes
and other environmental impacts.
